Midsomer Norton & Welton South Ground Frame Cast-Iron sign. Midsomer Norton opened 20th June 1874. Renamed Midsomer Norton & Welton from Oct 16th 1898 to 26th September 1949. Renamed Midsomer Norton Upper until 25th September 1950. Renamed Midsomer Norton South until closure 7th March 1966. This sign was from the GWR station of the same name on the line that crossed over the S&DJR next station Radstock, Mells Road Halt then onto the junction for Frome or Westbury stations. The GWR station kept this name until closure, which is why the S&D station was renamed Midsomer Norton South from 1949, to avoid mix-ups. We have been notified via the S&D trust committee that the Midsomer Norton & Welton North Ground Frame sign is located in the museum at Washford. This superb sign is in ex box condition and this is a unique opportunity to own a piece of railway history. An impressive yet manageable 59 ½" x 18"
